CH BARAB AMBER FLAME
ROSCO 1990-2001
He was my first homebred champion and was litter brother to Barab Amber Jewel and Lin and Terry McManus’ Ch Barab Amber Gambler. They were sired by Ch Furnwood Argus, the breed record holder, out of Ch Ezhar Early Mist at Barab from my first litter born in February 1990.
He started his show career by winning BPIS at Hound Club of East Anglia under Gus McDonald. He also won RBIS in two consecutive years at Northampton & District Open Show. Rosco gained his title, with Best of Breed, from Marion Spavin at WKC in 1992. He won a total of five CCs and nine RCCs and gained his fifth ticket at Crufts in 1995 from Fran Niven.
In addition to successes in the show ring Rosco enjoyed occasional outings to lure coursing meets, for which he showed remarkable enthusiasm. At the age of six he suffered a freak accident and slipped a disc in his neck, which left him paralysed. Following surgery he had to learn to walk again. He made a complete recovery but, although I was given permission to show him I decided to retire him from the show ring.
