CH BARAB BRONZE BUCEPHALUS

ZINZAN                                        1999

He was named after the famous All Black’s Rugby player Zinzan Brooke who was playing for Harlequins when he was born. I thought if ‘Quins can have a Zinzan Brooke then I can have a Zinzan Brooker. He narrowly missed becoming a champion in a record 19 days when he received a RCC at East of England in 2001 instead of the CC. He went on the get the CC at Leeds and then the CC with BOB at the Houndshow. Our judge at East of England subsequently made up for her ‘lapse’ when she gave him his qualifying CC at Darlington in 2003.

Like fine wine he improved with age and was probably at his best approaching veteran. He was Best Veteran in Show and took the RCC at the Pharaoh Hound Club’s Ch Show in June 2007. In August of that year he was Best Veteran in Breed at the Houndshow. He has since won several Best Veteran awards at Open Shows.

Zinzan has also proved himself at stud. His first litter, to Ch Ezhar Rough Quest at Lyncris, produced Zephyr, Ch Lyncris Till There Was You At Barab, who won her third and qualifying CC at Leeds 2009. He sired two further litters, this time to Ezhar Emblematic in 2005 and 2006. Three bitches from the 2006 litter did very well as puppies, winning several Best Puppy awards between them. This made Zinzan top sire in the Our Dogs Top Sire competition 2007.
